Beverly Dawn Blumenthal

1956 - 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Beverly Dawn Blumenthal (McCulloch) of Dartmouth, NS. Bev passed away at the Dartmouth General Hospital on April 3, 2026, at 69 years of age, after a lengthy period of health challenges.

Born in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of the late William McCulloch and Harriet (Hughes) McCulloch.

Bev spent her early years in Barkers Point, NB, surrounded by family, where she especially cherished time with her grandmother, Elizabeth.

A decade later, she moved with her family to Riverview, NB, where she would eventually meet her husband, her beloved “Bobby.” Together, they traveled, bowled, played ball, and spent 45 years side by side.

Bev loved and excelled at sports. From baseball to badminton, you would be hard-pressed to find a sport she wasn’t good at — and she was fiercely competitive. She was an incredible gardener, and at one point her stunning gardens were fit for a magazine. She loved holidays and was known for decorating big for Halloween and Christmas. Her carved pumpkins were outstanding. So meticulous that she rarely accepted help for her large decorating projects.

She never missed a concert or recital, proudly saved clippings of her daughter’s letters to the editor, and taught her to fish, instilling in her a love of the outdoors. It didn’t matter how cold the rink was, she lived for watching her son play hockey, and beamed with pride on his wedding day.

She loved staying engaged, following the news, and always kept up to date on politics. From Three Dog Night and The Guess Who to Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton, Bev loved music — so much so that she would “force” her kids to sit, listen, and learn to appreciate it.

But for Bev, her greatest dream was to have a family of her own — to be a mother. In her later years, she faced many health challenges, but in her prime she gave everything she had to raising her two children, Megan and Philip. From adventures in the woods to trips to Disney World, she always wanted to bring them everywhere she went, to give them the best life she could. Her children are her legacy.

Beverly is survived by her husband, Robert Blumenthal of Dartmouth, NS; her daughter, Megan (Grant Lamontagne) Blumenthal of Halifax, NS; her son, Philip (Maureen) Blumenthal of Middle Sackville, NS; her brother, Michael (Karen) McCulloch of Riverview, NB; her nephew, Jason (Ashley) McCulloch of Nevada; her niece, Melissa (Travis Rayworth) McCulloch of Riverview, NB; her uncle, Gary Hughes of Quispamsis, NB; her great-niece, Courtney McCulloch; her great-nephew, Caden McCulloch; and cousins Cherie Smith, Robert Rickard, Bill (Sandy) Rickard, Natasha (Franck) Lestringant of New York, Elizabeth (Cody) Fullerton of Rothesay, NB, and many more cherished extended family.

Along with her parents, Beverly was predeceased by her brothers, William (Billy) McCulloch and Joseph (Joey) McCulloch.

If you knew Bev, you know she loved it when all of the family got together. Arrangements are in the process of being made to bring Beverly home to New Brunswick for a small graveside ceremony and family wake on her birthday weekend in June.

To honour Bev, live your life to the fullest, because life can change in ways we don’t expect. And every now and then, play some hard rock up loud in her memory.
