Beverly Bodie

Beverly Joan Bodie passed away peacefully on Monday, December 8, 2025 at the age of 92 in her care home in Aloha, Oregon, surrounded by love and gentle care. Beverly was born on August 21, 1933 in Denison, Iowa to Carl & Caroline Schwartz. The youngest of eight siblings, Beverly moved to Hillsboro, Oregon with her parents when she was eight years old; her family in search of a more prosperous life. She became the first member of her family to graduate from high school, at Hillsboro High School in 1951. Not too long after graduating, she found love with Charles (Chuck) Bodie, and the two married. They moved throughout the country while Chuck was in the Navy, before ending up in Chuck's hometown of Georgetown, South Carolina. Eventually, Beverly and Chuck, along with their two boys, Charles Michael (Mike) Bodie and John Steven (Steve) Bodie, moved back to Hillsboro in 1960. Beverly helped raise her two boys with Chuck, while also holding jobs primarily as a receptionist. Beverly and Chuck lived in love and happiness, married for 48 years, before Chuck passed in 2001.
Beverly remained independent over the years, with her love of gardening, baking, tending to the house she loved and cherished for over 40 years, and socializing at the Hillsboro Senior Center which always stayed part of her foundation. She was a devoted volunteer and loved playing Bingo which was her favorite game. But more than anything, Beverly loved her family; always talking about how much she loved them, sharing stories, baking them treats over the holidays and having them over for dinner whenever time permitted.
For those of you who had the pleasure of either meeting or knowing Beverly, you would all agree that she was a loving and caring person, a true social butterfly in every sense, all of which endured even in the final few years of her life while battling Alzheimer's and heart failure. Her sweet personality remained intact from weekly visits with her former daughter-in-law Debbi Green (whom Beverly always considered as the daughter she never had) and niece Elisa Hickman, as well as her visits from family and friends.
Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Chuck Bodie, son Mike Bodie, and granddaughter Michelle Borts. She is survived by her son Steve Bodie, granddaughter Jenn Bodie, grandson Adam Bodie, and great-grandson Jeremiah Borts, along with many nieces and nephews.
