Beverly A. Deming (Baker), 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Maui, Hawaii, on March 10, 2026.
Her life was a beautiful reflection of love, gratitude, and family.
Bev was born June 27, 1934, in Denver, Colorado, to Hazel and Harry Baker. At age 14 she met Bob, the “new boy” at school and her first and only love. After walking Bev home one day, Bob told her he would marry her someday. He kept that promise. They married at age 19 in 1953 while they were students at the University of Colorado Boulder, beginning a lifelong partnership built on deep love, devotion, and shared adventure. Bob called Bev his “movie star,” a tribute not only to her beauty, but to the warmth and charisma that lit every room she entered.
Bev was a devoted wife and a loving mother to her four boys, whom she affectionately called her “wild things.” Family was the center of her life. She was the heart of the family, offering constant love, encouragement, and quiet strength. Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support created a home where everyone felt welcome, cared for, and deeply loved.
Bev and Bob shared a love of the outdoors and of exploring the world together. They enjoyed fishing, hiking, sailing, and skiing, and delighted in sharing these experiences with their family. Over the course of their life together, Bev and Bob traveled widely, visiting nearly 40 countries and all seven continents.
Bob was a successful entrepreneur, and Bev was his trusted partner, confidante, and advisor. Together they built a life grounded in hard work, partnership, and mutual respect. Their accomplishments as a team created opportunities and a legacy that enriched the lives of their entire family.
After Bob retired, Bev and Bob divided their time between their mountain home in Genesee, Colorado, and their ocean-side home in Maui, which eventually became their permanent home. Bev especially loved watching the whales, the brilliant sunsets, and the millions of stars from the peaceful lanai. In her book, Our Love Story, Our Family Joy, and Priceless Memories (2016), she captured the people she loved most and the “wild and wonderful” moments of their lives, writing, “Constantly I find myself saying over and over, ‘Thank you God.’” A natural matriarch, Bev guided her family with intention, warmth, and joy. Bob, her beloved husband of 67 years, passed away in 2020. She missed him deeply, and the family is comforted in believing their “split souls” are together again.
Bev’s life and love continue through the generations she nurtured. She is survived by her three sons—Steve (Joan), Doug (Julia), and Bruce (Jeff Byrne). Her fourth son, Rob, sadly predeceased both Bev and Bob. She also leaves behind her eight grandchildren—Christine (John), Nicole (Keith), Charlene Deming (Jeffrey Glenn), Neil (Belle), Douglas Deming, Kaylyn Banerjee (Kush), Anna Byrne-Deming, and Henry Byrne-Deming—and her eight great-grandchildren—Lukas and Madisen; Sabine, Beau, and Margot Banerjee; and George, Adair, and Charles Glenn-Deming—who carry forward her legacy.
A family memorial service will be held in June in Denver, Colorado.
Her love, wisdom, and quiet strength will continue to live on in the hearts of her family.
