Beverly Louise Hopkins 10/21/1942 to 12/10/2025. She had a brief battle with Glioblastoma but her attitude was typical of Bev being positive, upbeat, and a blessing to all who cared for her. A life of service, she cared for every one of her real estate clients with professionalism, thoroughness, and efficiency. She worked for several real estate offices but found her forever home with Dynamic Properties which turned into Re/Max Dynamic Properties for 40 years.
Beverly was born and raised in Bend, Oregon and married her high school sweetheart, Wallace Hopkins in 1962. After the US Marine Corp they lived in Eugene, Oregon in student housing. Beverly attended Phagen's Beauty School, and they moved to Anchorage in 1965, where Wally worked for the IRS and Bev began her career as a beautician in the 70's at J C Penny's. They first lived in a small trailer, then a house and in 1982 they built their current home on Our Own Lane right on Rabbit Creek. Bev loved the house and lived there until her death. She switched to Real Estate in the 80's. She and Wally enjoyed many activities with the Porche Club and involvement in Fur Rondy as well as traveling and entertaining at their house.
Though 3,000 miles from home, Bev visited family often and she extended an open door for family and friends to visit. Her parents made several trips driving the AK Highway. Bev was very close to her sister Jane and they spoke almost every day. Though not in her family's history, her younger brother , Doug, died a few years ago after an illness with the same disease.
Bev had a friend, Bette Rae Mattoon, who was a pioneer Alaskan and retired from the Navy. She was in her late 80's when Bev offered to go with her on the Honor Flight to Washington DC. She was pleased to do that and was a great escort.
Bev loved to cook and entertain, and always had treats to bring to any party. She also loved to buy gifts for her friends and family and had a whole room dedicated to wrapping. She was the first one to send a thank-you, get well, birthday or sympathy card.
She was a member of the Anchorage Woman's Club from 1981 to present. She collected gifts for Providence Extended Care at Christmas and worked on many projects including recently purchasing Kevlar vests for the Anchorage K-9 force. She was on the cleaning crew at church and always made up boxes for Samaritan's Purse kids. Bev supported many animal rescue operations in town and internationally. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and knew where she was going.
Please join us for the memorial via zoom if you cannot attend. If you wish to show your love, please make a donation to SPCA or one of the other animal rescue and care centers in Anchorage in her name instead of flowers. Bev always loved a celebration and we will be having one when weather allows.
A service will be held at her church, Sunset Hills Baptist at 12130 Old Seward Highway on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 2 pm. Please come and join us. Any donations can be made to an animal organization of your choice. A celebration will be held this spring. If you are interested in coming please let Peggy Kelly know.
