Bill Burke Blakey, age 78, passed away on April 4, 2026. He was born on March 3, 1948, in Glasgow, Kentucky. He was the beloved son to Ruth (Gonterman) Blakey and Jack Blakey.

Bill’s family later moved to Florida, where he attended and graduated from Forest Hill High School. He went on to proudly serve his country in the Army during the Vietnam War, a role that reflected his courage, discipline, and deep sense of duty.

Following his service, Bill earned a Master’s degree from the University of Louisville, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to learning and achievement. He built a successful career as an entrepreneur, primarily in the bank card business, where his vision, work ethic, and leadership earned him lasting respect.

Bill married Cindy Klarich Blakey in 1993. Together, they spent their time raising their children, Carly and Casey in North Palm Beach and Islamorada, creating a life rooted in family, adventure, and shared experiences.

An avid boater, Bill had a deep love for the water. He was passionate about fishing and enjoyed competing in numerous tournaments throughout the Florida Keys and the Caribbean, where his skill and competitive spirit were well known. Time on the water was where he felt most at peace, and watching the sunset was one of his favorite pastimes.

Above all, Bill was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Blakey; his daughter, Carly Kaicher and her husband Jonathan; his son, Casey Blakey; and his cherished grandsons, Jack and Blake, who brought him immense pride and joy.

He is also survived by his siblings: Sue Kwitek (John), Jane Waits (Tim), Laura Smith, Lisa Swarner (Wes), and Jack Blakey (Lisa). He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth (Gonterman) Blakey; his father, Jack Blakey, his brother-in-law, George; and his beloved niece, Megan Blakey, with whom he shared a deep and loving bond.

Bill will be remembered for his strength, humor, intelligence, adventurous spirit, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His legacy lives on through the family he treasured and the many lives he touched.
