Bill Carpenter

It's with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bill Carpenter of Rayland, OH at his home on November 20, 2025.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is held at Start LLC 797 Cool Springs Road Mingo Junction Ohio 43938 on June 6, 2026 at 12:00PM
Bill leaves behind his two sons and grandchildren: David (Christina), Ryan (23) and Rachel (18) and Michael (Janis), Lydia (20), Kyle (19) and Kalyn (17). He is also survived by his siblings Tom (Lene) Carpenter, Iris Bauer and Lena Carpenter, and their families, as well as many cousins and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents William and Geraldine Carpenter.
Bill was born in Martins Ferry, OH. He attended Warren Consolidated High School before joining the Army. Details of his service record are listed below. Bill joined the Army in October 1965 and completed jump school and was assigned to the 2nd Battalion 505th Airborne Infantry of 82nd Airborne Division. In December 1966 he deployed to Vietnam as a member of the 1st Battalion 327 Airborne Infantry, 101st Airborne Division. Bill served as a squad leader with the Tiger Force which was a reconnaissance and combat platoon which saw heavy action. Bill was promoted to Sergeant, he was wounded twice in combat. His awards include the Bronze Star, Air Medal, Purple Heart with oak leave cluster, Combat Infantry Badge, Parachutist Badge and Vietnamese Parachutist Badge .
Funeral services were entrusted with the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, OH.
