Blanche Kinsley Moore "Chelen"

1941 - 2026

Blanche Kinsley Moore “Chelen”, a beloved wife, loving mother, and “G-Mom,” peacefully passed away on February 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 28, 1941, in The Bronx, New York to Blanche Rescousie Kinsley and Charles Vancott Kinsley, and was the youngest of three children. She grew up in Hartsdale, New York and spent her summers at Lake Pocotopaug in Connecticut.
Chelen graduated from The Academy of Our Lady of Good Counsel and went on to study at the Georgetown University School of Nursing. During her sophomore year, she met the love of her life, William Grayson Moore, Jr. “Bill”, and the two were married on February 3, 1962.
Soon after, they departed aboard the SS Lurline for Honolulu, Hawaii, where Bill served as an Army Airborne Ranger stationed at Schofield Barracks. While in Hawaii, they welcomed their first child, Bill, in 1962. The family returned to the mainland in 1965, and in 1967 their daughter, Kelly, was born. Fifteen months later, they welcomed their second son, Patrick.
Over the years, Chelen and Bill moved 17 times as Bill advanced his career in the technology industry. Chelen’s patient and loving nature, along with her dedication to finding homes in excellent school districts, helped ensure that each move was a success for her husband and children. She was a dedicated volunteer at her children’s schools.
Chelen’s love for animals, especially lions, led her to volunteer as a docent at zoos in every city where she lived. In the early 1980s, she founded the Adopt-an-Animal Program at the Dallas Zoo. She especially cherished her trips to Africa, where she enjoyed photo safaris and observing wildlife in their natural habitat. She remained a devoted supporter of the Dallas Zoo throughout her life.
Chelen was also a talented tennis player and treasured the lifelong friendships she formed on the courts at T Bar M Racquet Club. She brought that same competitive spirit to the golf course, where she was known for her impressive drives.
She cherished the blessings of her three children, their spouses, and her 11 grandchildren. She found immense joy in traveling the world with Bill, especially on their annual trips to Hawaii, London, Paris, and Zurich. Fondly known as “G-Mom” to her grandchildren, Chelen held a deep appreciation for family traditions. She treasured summer vacations in Ocean City, New Jersey, as well as family dinners, birthday celebrations, and Fourth of July gatherings at the Dallas Country Club.
Chelen was welcomed into heaven by her loving husband of 61 years, Bill; her mother, Blanche Rescousie Kinsley; her father, Charles Vancott Kinsley; her sister-in-law, Murial Kinsley; and her granddaughter, Emily Kathryn Cook.
She is survived by her brothers, Charles Kinsley (Suzanne) and Paul Kinsley (Nancy); her three children, William G. Moore III (Roxanne), Kelly M. Cook (Peter), and Patrick K. Moore (Jennifer); and her cherished grandchildren: William G. Moore IV (Grayson), Kinsley, Kelsey, Katie Grace, and Karoline Cook; Collin, Tommy, and John Patrick Moore; and Luke and Ella Fogel.
A private celebration of life will be held at St. Monica Catholic Church. Donations may be made in her memory to the Dallas Zoo.
