Bradley M. Thompson, 71, passed on December 5, 2025. Brad was born on November 11, 1954, to Wayne Thompson and Mary Lee McKay, and was raised in Eastpointe, MI. Brad spent most of his life in the greater Detroit area and graduated from East Detroit High School with honors in 1972, where he played basketball and tennis. Brad then went on to play basketball and tennis at Adrian College, while earning a degree in History. After college, he spent time in Arizona and California working as a teacher and exploring nearby National Parks. He would later return to the Detroit area to begin his business as a contractor. His work can be seen in many of the homes across Grosse Pointe and St. Clair Shores, but his most beloved project was building a home for his sister on Lake St. Clair. Away from work, Brad spent his time outdoors. He was an avid golfer, ran the Boston Marathon, and climbed Half Dome. Brad also enjoyed bird hunting with his golden retrievers in North Dakota, spending time in Northern Michigan, and cheering on his grandkids from the sideline.
Brad was a true family man whose love knew no boundaries. His greatest joy came from his family, and nothing lit up his face quite like seeing his grandchildren. Brad poured his heart into the people he loved. His kindness, strength, and steady presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched.
Brad is survived by his mother, Mary Lee McKay; his sisters, Cheryl Huddlestone, Kim Ford, Lori (Jim) Fisher; his children, Lauren (Mike) Nowicki and Tricia (Brad) Perich; his step-children, Ryan Berns, Craig Emery, Kenny Emery, Christi Lundh, and Kamilla (Daniel) Zeter; and his grandchildren, Cameron, Cooper, Ethan, Allison, Owen, Dylan, Agnes, and Eleanor. He is predeceased by his father, Wayne Thompson.
A visitation will be held at St. Thomas Lutheran Church (23801 Kelly Road) in Eastpointe, MI on December 18th at 10:00 am, followed by a service at 11:00 am. There will be a luncheon after the service at the Lochmoor Club in Grosse Pointe Woods. In lieu of flowers, Brad preferred that donations be made to Pheasants Forever in his honor.
