Brennan Cole Toups passed away at 6:20 a.m. on November 20, 2025, in Flat Rock, North Carolina, at the age of 39. Born on March 6, 1986, in Lafayette, Louisiana, Brennan lived a life full of color, laughter, and deep connection.
A graduate of St. Thomas More High School in Lafayette, Brennan grew up immersed in the warmth of southern Louisiana. He shared a close bond with his Grandparents, Lucy "Pixie" and Lee Toups—affectionately known as Pixie and Papa—and spent many joyful summers with them in Cypremort Point. These cherished times, along with traveling to LSU baseball championships during Skip Bertman's legendary coaching era, remained among his fondest memories.
Baseball ran through Brennan's veins. Coming from a long line of players, he exhibited a natural talent for the game from an early age. His love for baseball was more than just sport—it was tradition, family, and passion rolled into one. As he grew older, his interests expanded to include music, which became one of the most defining aspects of his life. Brennan had an extraordinary ability to connect people through sound. His eclectic taste and gift for introducing others to new genres made him a musical guide to many.
Brennan's personality was unforgettable—eccentric in the best way. His larger-than-life presence lit up every room he entered. Known for his contagious laugh and sharp sense of humor, he brought joy wherever he went. Though stubborn at times, Brennan was deeply accommodating and fiercely protective of those he loved. His heart was generous, his loyalty unwavering, and his kindness ever-present.
He found joy in life's simple pleasures: hiking or fishing outdoors, traveling to places with good weather, or spending time with loved ones during the holidays—especially Christmas, his favorite time of year. No matter where life took him, Louisiana always held his heart, particularly the vibrant city of New Orleans.
Brennan was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Dylann McLemore. Their bond was one of deep love and mutual respect. He also embraced Dylann's family as his own, including her parents April and Bill McLemore and her grandfather Steve McLemore.
He is survived by his parents, Michelle and Mark Toups; his siblings Lauren Gunther (Billy), Connor Toups (Olivia), and Mark Stephen Toups; his grandmother Lucy "Pixie" Toups; his uncle Troy Toups (and aunt Denilza Toups); Charisse Hanchey (and uncle Brian Hanchey); and cousin Andrew Hanchey; as well as many extended family members and friends who were touched by his spirit.
Brennan was preceded in death by his grandfather Lee Toups and Uncle John Toups.
To know Brennan was to experience joy. He was the funny guy in the room—the one who dressed sharply, cracked jokes effortlessly, and made everyone feel seen and valued. He had a rare ability to leave people better than he found them.
Brennan Cole Toups will be remembered for the light he brought into the world—the laughter he shared so freely, the music he loved so deeply, and the love he gave so fully. His absence leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew him.
May his memory bring comfort and continue to inspire all who were lucky enough to be part of his journey.
A celebration of life for Brennan Cole Toups will be held in April of 2026 in Cypremore Point, Louisiana.
