Brent's father Leon Lyles was a football player during his college days. He studied and became both a doctor and a pharmacist. His mother Erma Lyles was a vocational nurse.
There were eight children in his family.
Only four siblings survive. Elizabeth Ann Lyles, Denise Lyles, Carla Lyles Boikin, all three sisters from Pasadena, California and a brother Renoil Ray Lyles from Dallas, Texas
Brent Lyles was an entrepreneur among a family of encouraged scholars.
He had a clothing store a limousine business, he even worked in his father's pharmacy.
He enlisted into the Army 82nd Airborne Division Parachute training.
While boxing at the training camp, a hobby since he was 16 years old, he was invited to join the boxing team to represent the United States. He won many a fight for our nation.
After the war he entered medical school as his father suggested but the calling for entrepreneurship was strong.
He moved to Northern California in 1984 and settled in Sacramento. He joined a drywall contractor and got the contract to install drywall in the states Lottery Buildings. Hanging on the highest scaffolding with no fear was from his parachute training in his early military career.
He discovered plumbing and soon became a licensed plumbing contractor. After achieving number three contractor status in his field he was invited to join as partner in a general contracting firm and he became a developer and redeveloper of buildings.
He purchased a standard 1950's home and single-handedly transformed it into an open area modern-looking castle.
Today it is a landmark for directions in his neighborhood referred to as " the 39th Avenue Castle".
He collected African Art, musical instruments and what he called "Americana" from old carpentry tools to metal toys and old metal roller skates to a small printing press from an old newspaper business.
Mr. Lyles had five children during his lifetime. Two of his children predeceased him.
His three surviving children are Jason Kalife Lyles, Jennifer Nicole Lyles and Kaeleonya Hamilton Lyles.
He has many cousins, nieces and nephews and grandchildren.
Mr. Lyles was attending a contracting class for a C-21 license prior to his passing to help rebuild after the Eaton fires. An entrepreneur till his final days.
Brent Gentry Lyles was a true gentleman who was respected and admired by his friends and peers.
Mr. Lyles passed away in his home Saturday, April 11, 2026 aged 76 years old.
His burial with Military Honors is Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California
He had a few sayings one of which was "A person is 360° you can be many things." "You can't sell what you don't have" "Every day above ground is a good day" and last of all Brent Lyles would throw you a peace sign and say "Peace! I' m out."
