Brian McDowell, aged 60, passed away on March 23, 2026, in Gulfport, MS. Born on July 12, 1965, Brian's zest for life made him the heart of every gathering. A proud veteran, he served in the Navy and retired as a senior chief hospital corpsman, a role he embraced with dedication and honor- where he affectionately earned the nickname “Doc”!
Brian's life was full of joy and love, which he generously shared with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy McDowell; daughter, Ashley Strubel, her husband John, and their son Noah (New Jersey); son, Jack McDowell (New York); mother, Stephanie and sister, Megan and her husband Bruce (Florida). He also leaves behind two stepdaughters, Stephanie DiBattista, her husband Nick, and their children Silas, Riley, and Alena (AJ); and Sarah Sikorski and her daughter Alexandria (big Al). He was preceded in death by his father, Paul McDowell.
Known for his carefree approach to life, Brian loved telling stories of his own experiences, watching the Wolverhampton Wanderers, playing Keno, and enjoying hockey games. He was always ready to share his love of food, curating “Docs Jersey Deli” to bring some NJ flavors to the gulf coast. He cherished the time spent with his wife and their Great Dane, being an Opa to his grandkids, and embodying the spirit of living each day to its fullest.
A memorial will be planned at a later date, honoring Brian's wish to donate his body to science- ensuring Doc is there for his own memorial! His life and legacy will continue to influence and inspire all who knew him. He will be missed every day
