Brian Patrick Sorci passed away on March 6, 2026, with his beloved wife, Laurie, and their two sons, Aidan and Carson, by his side. He was 62 years old.
Above all, Brian will be remembered as a devoted husband and father. There was nothing that brought him more joy than being with Laurie and their sons.
Brian brought a sense of abundance to everything he did. A meal at his house was never just about the food. It was about planning a dish he'd been thinking about for weeks, gathering the perfect ingredients, preparing the meal alongside family and friends, laughter around the table, a trip down to the wine cellar, dancing by the pool. It was about Brian making you a Flintridge (or two) and telling a story (or three). Brian made people feel special to be in the Sorci home, where there was always an open door and a place at the table.
Brian lived his life with a deep curiosity, a childlike wonder, and a desire to explore, travel, learn, and experience all he could. He loved to golf, fish, cook, and capture life through his photography. He loved his morning coffee and being greeted by his beloved pets Luca, Lucy, and Mittens. He loved seeing a good movie (in a theatre, with popcorn) and watching a baseball game (in the ballpark, with a hot dog and a beer). He loved hosting holidays, steelhead fishing in Idaho, and spending time with family in Italy. He toured the world playing rugby and ran with the bulls in Spain. He was a lifelong fan of the Miami Dolphins and the LA Dodgers, Merle Haggard and the Beatles. Brian loved looking up at the sky, tracking rocket launches, and once took his family out into the wilderness, atop a hill, to be in the perfect spot to watch a comet pass by (with a makeshift table and risotto).
Brian founded Sorci Construction Services in 1991, specializing in custom remodels. Known for his integrity, craftsmanship, and the relationships he built, he found particular meaning in the years he worked alongside his brother, Brett.
Service to others was a defining part of Brian's life. He coached his sons in baseball and volunteered with the Kern County Junior Golf Association. He served as President of both the Kern County Rugby Association and the Southern California Rugby Football Union, and also contributed at the national level as a member of the Board of USA Rugby. At Bakersfield Country Club, he served on the Board, the Greens Committee, and was Captain of the Men's Team Play for more than five years. He was also President of the East Bakersfield Lion's Club and the Executives Association of Kern County.
Brian will always be remembered for his steadfast love for his family and the warm and welcoming home they created together. As a husband, Brian was loving and attentive, and delighted in finding ways to surprise Laurie, filling their thirty-seven years of marriage with laughter, adventure, and joy. As a father, he shared his knowledge and time with patience and care, and made it clear every day that he wanted the very best for his sons. Aidan and Carson reflect the values, kindness, and generosity he lived by, and will carry his love, lessons, and legacy with them always.
