Brian Robert Wood, 64, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2026, in North Salt Lake, Utah, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. By his side were his sons, Colin and Ian; their wives, Sarah and Lindsey; and his beloved grandchildren, Hudson, Luna, Oliver, and Marley.
Born on August 29, 1961, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Robert and Norma Wood, Brian grew up in the valley where he built a life defined by hard work and heartfelt connections. A skilled electrician by trade, he also worked in construction and real estate. Brian took immense pride in his craft and was known for his patience and generosity in teaching others. His hands shaped not only buildings but also relationships that stood the test of time.
Brian's personality was a vibrant mix of humor, determination, and kindness. He cared deeply about people and stood firmly by his beliefs. Known for bringing people together, he hosted gatherings filled with laughter, delicious food, and meaningful conversations. These moments reflected his gift for creating spaces where everyone felt welcome.
Among the many roles he cherished in life, being a grandfather brought him unparalleled joy. He adored spending time with his grandchildren and had a deep love for animals. Family was at the heart of everything Brian did. One of his favorite traditions was dining at Italian Village—a legacy started by his father that he lovingly continued.
In a final act of generosity that mirrored the way he lived his life, Brian followed in his father's footsteps by donating his body to the University of Utah. This selfless decision exemplified his enduring commitment to helping others.
Brian is survived by his sons Colin (Sarah) and Ian (Lindsey); grandchildren Hudson, Luna, Oliver, and Marley; and his sister Diane. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Norma.
To honor Brian's memory in true fashion—filled with warmth and camaraderie—his family plans to gather at the Cotton Bottom for beers and garlic burgers at a future date yet to be determined.
Brian will be remembered for his strength of character, quick wit, unwavering kindness, and the boundless love he shared with those around him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
