Bruce DeGarmo, age 84, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, in West Olive, Michigan. Born on August 30, 1941, in Trenary, Michigan, Bruce lived a life marked by dedication to his family, community service, and a deep love for music.
Bruce began his professional journey at Grand Haven Stamped Products, where he worked until his retirement. In addition to his industrial career, Bruce served his community with distinction as a firefighter. He retired from both the Robinson Township Fire Department and the Grand Haven City Fire Department—roles that reflected his commitment to helping others and protecting those around him.
Family was central to Bruce's life. He is survived by his partner of the last several years, Vickie Geldersma; his children: Bruce R. DeGarmo, Clayton DeGarmo (Deborah), William DeGarmo, Tim DeGarmo (Sara), and Kristylnn Ayers; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember him with affection.
Bruce was preceded in death by his wife Janet DeGarmo (Berg), several of his brothers, and his parents.
A man of many passions, Bruce especially loved music. Whether playing for friends or simply enjoying the company of others through song, he found joy in sharing music with those around him. His kind and loving nature made him a cherished father and grandfather—someone who always looked out for the people in his life.
May Bruce's memory bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire acts of kindness and care within the community he so faithfully served.
