Send Flowers Plant A Tree
With heavy hearts, we miss you and long for the times we can't have
anymore. You were a special part of our lives, and your memory will
always be treasured. The universe lost not only one of the kindest, but
most patient and thoughtful human beings. Whether you knew him for a
week, a year or a lifetime you could not forget the way he would make you
feel, the thoughts he shared, the chats you got to have, the games you got
to watch or the hand he reached out with.

Bruce was born in Hennepin, Minnesota, moved with his family to California and raised in Los Altos, California. He graduated Los Altos High in 1961 and soon after began his work life at Westinghouse and married Patricia Marks in 1966 and had two children, Shannon and Keith Gibbs.

While supporting his son in high school sports, Bruce met the love of his life Shelley. They married in 1989 and he gained two more children Kim and
Kathi who always referred to him as the best Bonus Dad they could have
asked for.

He continued his career at Westinghouse in Sunnyvale until his retirement
when he and Shelley moved to Ceres to be with their kids and grandkids.
He opted for a second "career" helping transport people for Storer and
enjoyed having regular customers, one of whom would be Shelley, riding
around with him. He was especially geared towards helping elderly and
handicapped people with his kind and caring demeanor.

Bruce and Shelley, best known as "B n Mom", loved their life together and
you simply did not think of one without the other. They travelled
extensively, Maui being one of their favorite places and where they got
engaged. They loved their trips to Tahoe and could be found packing up
and leaving at the drop of a hat, laughing like kids and enjoying every
adventure! They travelled anywhere, anytime any of their kids or grandkids
had an event, whether it be a 30 min t-ball game, basketball in Southern
Cal, all day swim, water polo or wrestling meets, football and soccer all
over the state. If their kids/grandkids had a concert they were front and
center, an event at school they were front and center, a fundraiser or
activity that needed volunteers they were always available and ready to
lend a hand....always side by side, always together, always loving and kind
to all around them.

They loved to go to the movies and could spend all day at the theater as
long as B came home with a popcorn refill at the end. He loved their pets
and all animals were drawn to him which earned him the nickname Dr.
Doolittle.

True patriots - you could find their support for the red, white and blue in
their clothing, décor in their home and even special Christmas trees.
Papa shared a birthday with his granddaughter, Kaitlyn, which they
celebrated together every year, mostly at Tony Romas, but always together.

Bruce was an avid sports fan who played basketball, swam and bowled.
He coached baseball and his true talent as a soccer coach, from Kathi's
lifelong tribe of friends to taking his son Keith's team to Scotland to
compete, to eventually coaching some of his own grandchildren's teams.
Bruce and Shelley loved attending sporting events together and were faithful 49er and San Francisco Giants fans. You could find them in the parking lot
tailgating at Candlestick for either team and cheering them on during
games inside! They also bowled together for numerous years with friends and family alike.

Dad, Grandpa, Papa, GGpa, Bruce, Big B, BBSUB, were all names he
went by proudly. The "CLAW" would simultaneously strike laughter and terror in any size man young or old.

Their kids would tell you how embarrassing it was that no matter where
they were, if their song "I just called to say I love you" by Stevie Wonder
came on the radio, they would stop and dance...the kitchen, a parking lot or the side of the road - it didn't matter!

Bruce lost the love of his life, Shelley, in December 2024. He loved her dearly, fiercely and protectively each and every day of their lives together and was never the same after her passing. He chose to go home and dance with her on December 30th, 2025. They will now always walk and dance, hand in hand,
as they did here on earth.

Preceded in death by his Father Robert Emmett Gibbs, Mother Lillian
(Strom) Gibbs and brothers Gary and Thomas Gibbs. Bruce is survived by
his children Shannon, Keith, Kim (Dave) and Kathi (Dan), grandchildren
and great grandchildren, as well as a large extended family. Whether
biological or not, he loved them all the same and his legacy of love,
kindness and patience will live on in all our hearts.

Per Bruce's request, we will host a dual Celebration of Life, to honor Bruce
and Shelley in May 2026.
