Bruce K. Regione, of Cary, IL, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of January 23, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on August 10, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, Bruce grew up in Arlington Heights, where he began a life defined by curiosity, kindness, and deep devotion to family.
Bruce was the beloved husband of Eva Connolly Regione, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. Their love was steady, quiet, and profound—a partnership marked by long conversations into the early morning hours, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to one another. Eva was the center of Bruce’s world, and their bond was felt by everyone who knew them.
He was a devoted father to Cynthea (Joe) Sloan and Peter Regione, and a deeply proud grandfather to Grace, Lola, and Chloe Sloan. His grandchildren brought him immense joy. He delighted in hearing about what they were learning, marveling at their curiosity and cheering them on with genuine excitement. To Bruce, their growth and wonder were nothing short of magical.
Bruce is survived by his sister, Carol (Ken) Dwyer and his brother, Brian (Bernadette) Regione, his father-in-law Ralph Connolly, in-laws Suzanne Connolly, and Jennifer (Ron) McGinnis and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Family meant everything to Bruce, and he cherished the traditions that bound them together.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Basil and Lola Jeannette Regione, as well as his mother-in-law Theadora Connolly and brothers-in-law Kevin Connolly and Keith Connolly.
A lifelong learner, Bruce had an insatiable curiosity and a sincere love of knowledge. He was a night owl by nature, often found reading, thinking, or talking late into the night. He loved grilling—no matter the season or weather—and spending unhurried time with the people he loved most. His presence was calm and reassuring, his humor gentle and well-timed, his care for others quiet but unmistakable.
Bruce’s greatest pride and joy was his family. Above all else, he will be remembered for his kindness, his devotion to Eva, his love for his children and grandchildren, and the peaceful, steady presence he brought into every room.
Funeral Mass will be held at Saints Peter and Paul church in Cary, IL on Saturday, March 7 at 10:30 am.
