1975 - 2025

Bryan Matthew Anderson passed away on December 18, 2025, at the age of 50, in New York City, NY. Born on July 6, 1975, Bryan's life was marked by his magnetic personality and his unwavering loyalty to those he loved.

Bryan graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1993 and went on to earn a degree from New York University Stern School of Business in 1997. While still an undergraduate, he began his career at D. E. Shaw & Co. in the Accounting department and ascended to become an equities trader, working in both New York and London. Bryan's career spanned over two decades at the firm, during which he built a close-knit community in London before retiring. He spent his final years back in the United States, living first in Los Angeles and then returning to New York City in 2024.

Beyond his professional achievements, Bryan was passionate about music, dancing, food, travel, and celebrating life with his loved ones, which included an enormous network of friends and family, both blood and chosen. His adventures took him around the globe including exploring Europe, Israel, Hong Kong, Cuba, and on a memorable six-month sabbatical across the United States. Bryan lit up any room with his charm and wit, making lifelong friends wherever he went. Bryan valued connection. He was interpersonally gifted, driven by a genuine curiosity about people paired with deep empathy. He had an admirable ability to build and maintain his friendships across time and space.

If you met him, he could charm you with a smile, start a conversation, make an astute observation and before you knew it, and sometimes against your better judgment, you were singing and dancing till dawn, and in the end thrilled to have joined the party.

For those that never met him, it's a loss and for those who knew him, whether for a few hours or a lifetime, it has been a stroke of good luck, a gift, a blessing. He loved very deeply, and is loved in return, eternally.

Bryan is survived by his brothers, Robert "Bobby" Anderson, John Anderson (partner Indira), and David Anderson; cousin, Jill Masloski Abreu; sister-in-law, Dina Anderson; cherished nephew and niece, Michael and Juliana, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard L. Anderson; mother, Joan Barbara Anderson (née Ortone); and beloved aunt, Roberta Ortone Masloski.

A celebration of Bryan's life will be held in New York City in the coming months, where friends and family will gather to honor his legacy. Bryan's life was a testament to the power of love and friendship, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
