Bunny Lederer, aged 82, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at her home in Fort Lee, New Jersey on Sunday, December 7, 2025. Born January 26, 1943, in Bronx, New York, Bunny is survived by her sons J.R. and Sam, grandchildren Tessa, Harry, Kiran and Iyla, and daughters-in-law Jessica and Nirosha. Born Barbara Weiss, Bunny grew up in New York City, with her parents Harry and Shirley Weiss. Bunny attended The Bronx High School of Science. Upon graduation, Bunny enrolled in Syracuse University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Bunny was active in the civil rights movement, developing many contacts in the community including "Stokes" and supporting protests and other actions. After receiving her diploma, Bunny spent many years working in the retail industry, serving as a global buyer, merchandising manager, and eventually as one of the first Female executives for Bamberger's, A&S, and Macy's. In this capacity, Bunny traveled to various destinations in the United States, Europe, Asia and other locations. In the early 1970's, Bunny met Eugene Philip Lederer at Berlitz School in New York City while studying Spanish. In June 1979, Bunny and Eugene married in Washington, Connecticut in their country home. Eugene would go on to found Knickerbocker Paper and hold a successful career in the paper goods industry as an entrepreneur and business founder. In April 1980 and September 1983, respectively, J.R. and Sam were born. Eugene passed away in June 1983. Bunny devoted the next 20 years of her life to raising J.R. and Sam, seeing them each graduate from Horace Mann School and Dartmouth College. In her later years, Bunny pursued a successful second career brokering real estate in Litchfield County, Connecticut. In addition, Bunny served as a volunteer reading coach for elementary school students in Bergen County Public Schools. She also became an avid bridge player in her local community and served as an election poll worker in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Bunny Lederer is remembered fondly by her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and friend, and she will be missed dearly.
