Cal Pozo of Palm Springs,CA passed away suddenly on January 10,2026 ,at the home he shared with his husband of 41 years, Michael Brautigan.Born in Havana, Cuba, Pozo came to Perrysburg, Ohio,at age 13 as part of the Cuban-post revolution exodus.There, he was fostered by the most wonderful,loving Weaver family.He never knew if he'd ever see his parents or sister again, but after three years, they reunited.After attending Bowling Green University, Cal was drawn to New York City to become a dancer and choreographer. Before long , he had choreographed productions of "Anyone Can Whistle " and "Ta Da" and had a leading role in " West Side Story ". He authored three books including "20 Days to a Trimmer Torso", " The Back Book" and " Bunnetics" a name which he coined and later turned into one of the first best-selling workout videos.He made appearances on "The Phil Donahue Show", and " Oprah " and "Live with Regis and Kathy Lee". Cal went on to open the first personal training center in the West Village, The Washington Square One on One Training Center. Wanting to share his love of dance, he created a series of successful and easy to follow "Learn to Dance in Minutes " videos. He was a perfectionist when it came to instruction, yet his natural charm made everything seems effortless. Cal later launched Fitvid Productions, becoming one of the first and foremost producers in the world of fitness videos. He took great pride in knowing he could help people feel their best, right at home. His business grew quickly and he became a force in the industry, building the careers of fitness legends Denise Austin,Leslie Sansone, Kathy Smith, et al. He translated popular brands including " Biggest Loser" and "Dancing with the Stars" into chart topping video brands. Cal had the great honor of producing the "Jane Fonda Prime Time" series. Cal is survived by his husband, Michael Brautigan and his sister Anna Pozo of Miami. He was a master baker,Zumba lover, fitness enthusiast and good friend to many.
