Caroline "Callie" Proffitt Christiansen April 18, 1984 – April 19, 2026

Caroline "Callie" Proffitt Christiansen passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning, one day after her 42nd birthday. Her passing was unexpected, and she is deeply mourned.

Callie was born the youngest of 11 siblings (a twin to her sister Cassie) and she has always been a force of nature with her own gravitational pull. She affected everything around her through fearless expression and pulled people toward her with curiosity and enthusiasm. A natural extrovert shaped by her own lifelong health struggles including POTS, Callie thrived when learning about other people and met every story with genuine empathy and zero judgment. She chose a career as a hair stylist because she saw every appointment as a chance to truly listen and understand. Her clients became some of her best friends, and her work was a second home with an enormous, adopted family.

Callie’s love and understanding made her a beloved constant in the lives of her over 40 nieces and nephews, whose hair she cut free of charge and whose secrets she kept with grace. She was the kind of aunt you could tell anything.

Callie was a devoted animal lover and a tender pet-mother throughout her life to her companions: Bigby, Monty, Fergi, Woodhouse, Ari, and Bast. She especially loved going to the beach with her animals (or anyone else).

She is survived by her mother, Elaine Herrick; her twin sister Cassie Wernli; and her siblings Jacob Proffitt, Jannalee Evans, Rebecca Garn, Wendy Proffitt, Joy Dunyon, Sherry MacNab, Spencer Proffitt, Clark Proffitt, and Russell Proffitt.

Callie’s physical ailments always tried to keep her enormous personality in check. She must be unstoppable now.

Callie’s Celebration of Life will be on Friday, May 1st at The Acre, 1221 N Greenfield Rd, Gilbert, AZ. The meet and greet will be at 9am and the memorial will be at 10am.
