Calvin Eugene Allen, known affectionately as Gene, passed away at home on December 7, 2025, in Huntington Beach, California. Born on September 8, 1937, in Wink, Texas, Gene lived a life marked by dedication—to his country, his work, and most of all, to those he loved.

Gene's early years in Texas laid the foundation for a life of service and hard work. His deep sense of duty led him to serve his country with honor and distinction. He began his military career in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Later, he joined the Marine Corps' elite 4th Reconnaissance Battalion—known as the "Red Diamond"—headquartered in New Orleans and attached at Camp Pendleton, California. After his time with the Marines, Gene returned to the Air Force Reserves where he rose to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. His leadership and commitment earned him an offer for a position at the Pentagon—a testament to his capabilities and reputation—but he chose instead to remain at March Air Force Base until his retirement.

Following his military service, Gene brought the same level of dedication and precision to his civilian career. He spent many years driving trucks across the country for various companies before finding a long-term home with Farmers Brothers Coffee. Recognized for his talent and meticulous attention to detail, Gene was promoted through the ranks and ultimately served as Vice President of Fleet Management. He remained with Farmers Brothers until his retirement, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and integrity.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gene was known for his warmth and generosity. A natural storyteller with a quick wit and infectious laugh, he cherished time spent with family and friends. Whether sharing tales from his travels or offering a helping hand without hesitation, Gene's presence brought comfort and joy to those around him.

He had a lifelong passion for collecting historical guns and knives—a hobby that reflected both his appreciation for history and his meticulous nature. Always eager to share knowledge, Gene became a trusted resource for fellow enthusiasts who sought out his expertise.

Gene was preceded in death by Arvilla Legg Allen, his beloved wife of 66 years, and their daughter Sandra Allen Roy. He is survived by his son Mark D. Allen Sr., as well as four grandchildren: Renee Allen of Westminster; Marky Allen Jr. of Huntington Beach; Christopher Allen of Long Beach; and Ashlyn Roy of Huntington Beach and three great grandsons: Tyler, Asher and Hayes along with brothers Duane Allen of Clyde, Texas and James "Skip" Allen of Crawford, Texas.

Calvin Eugene "Gene" Allen will be remembered not only for his distinguished service and professional achievements but also for the kindness he extended so freely to others. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Graveside Service will be held on January 6, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Riverside National Cemetery 22495 Van Buren. Committal Service with Military Honors.
