Candy Sue Fitzgerald (Walcutt) of Lilly Chapel, Ohio passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Born on September 4, 1950, Frazeysburg, Ohio lived a life defined by love, faith and unwavering devotion to her family and community.
A proud graduate of Tri Valley High School in the class of 1968. Candy went on to attend Bliss College where she trained to become a secretary. Her professional journey included dedicate service at Sears distribution as a secretary and later worked at Scioto Downs and Beulah Park. In every role Candy held she brought diligence, warmth, and a genuine care for those around her.
Candy's heart was rooted in her faith. Devoted member of the Lilly Chapel Methodist Church, she lived her beliefs through action - generously volunteering countless hours to support the church's ministry. Her commitment to service was not just an expression of faith but a reflection of her deeply compassionate spirit.
For over five decades, Candy shared a remarkable marriage with her beloved husband, Tom Fitzgerald. Their union was one of enduring love and mutual respect a true partnership that stood as an inspiration to all who knew them. Together they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, shared dreams, and unwavering support for one another.
Candy was the proud mother of three children: Kelly Wolf (Jerry), and sons Will (Julie), and Ben (Jo Ann). She found immense joy being grandmother to Hunter (Quentin), Forest (Austin), Madison, Blade, Kaden, Jonas, Ally, Paige, and Kendall. Her presence at their games, recitals, and milestones was constant - her cheers, the loudest, and her pride, immeasurable.
She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings: brothers Andy Walcutt (Susan) of Nashport and Jim Walcutt of Zanesville; and sister Patti Cline of Frazeysburg. She was preceded in death by her parents William "Bill" Walcutt and Dorthy (Taylor) Walcutt; Aunt and Uncle Jim and Mary Jane Walcutt; Aunt Maude; Aunt Dot; and Grandma Ada and her brother Chuck Walcutt who passed away recently on January 15, 2026.
Candy had a special place in her heart for nature's quiet beauty. On warm days she would often be found on her front porch - her sanctuary - surrounded by blooming flowers, gentle sounds of wind-chimes, and watching birds flutter by. It was here where she found peace and joy in life's simple pleasures.
Those who knew Candy will remember her as the kind soul - warm - hearted and sincere - with an extraordinary gift for making others feel truly seen. She listened with intention, embraced with compassion, and offered comfort through both words and presence.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday January 23, 2026, from 3:00pm to 4:30pm at Lilly Chapel Methodist Church, 8530 Lilly Chapel Georgesville Rd. Visitation will start at 3:00pm and will be followed by a church service in Candy's honor starting at 4:30pm. Dinner will be held at church directly after the service.
