Carl Bauer “C.B.” Gebhard of Denver, Colorado passed away on March 8, 2026, at the age of 81.
C.B. was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from St. Louis Country Day School in 1962 and later played collegiate soccer at Lafayette University in Easton, Pennsylvania. After graduating Lafayette in 1966, C.B. subsequently pursued graduate studies at the University of Missouri and the St. Louis College of Pharmacy before embarking on a decades-long career as a staff pharmacist at Alexian Brothers Hospital in downtown St. Louis. Following his retirement in 2019, C.B. moved to Colorado to be closer to immediate family.
Those who knew C.B. will remember the joy he derived from telling a bad joke with his trademark grin, being on the water, playing golf with his friends, listening to the oldies, coaching little league, fishing and hiking, working out at the Missouri Athletic Club and Club Greenwood, communing with his dogs, volunteering at Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies and Wings of the Rockies, and spending time with family.
C.B. leaves a living legacy in his family. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Emily Gladders Gebhard; his four children, Emily Jean “Jeannie” Gebhard, Carl Bauer “Tripp” Gebhard Jr. (Dawnya), Luke Gebhard, and Katherine “Kitty” Beutel; his ten grandchildren, Emily Ingram, Nicolas “Cole” Gebhard, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Ingram, Bruce “Penn” Gebhard, Estelle Gebhard, Grace Ingram, Ava Gebhard, Charles Jerome “CJ” Beutel, Hudson Gebhard, and Elise Beutel; and his brother Fritz Gebhard (Mardie). C.B. is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Katherine Gebhard.
A memorial service and reception are being planned later this year. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies (https://www.goldenrescue.com/).
