Rudolf Carl Strandberg, 83, left this world to go join his Lord and Savior on January 28th, 2026.

Carl was born on July 15, 1942 to Lucille and Rudy Strandberg in Brooklyn NY. His childhood years were filled with hours of 50's music, hangouts in ice cream parlors, and visits with his Swedish grandmother, Nanny. After meeting Josephine Joan Giorno (the most beautiful woman he had ever seen) at a party, the two were married in Brooklyn NY in 1962. Carl was an Army Medic and New York City Police Officer during the early years of their marriage, where his courage was best displayed through his assistance in a large structure fire while on the job. Carl and Joan moved to Long Island NY in 1970 and raised their two wonderful children there. After 47 years in that home, Carl and Joan became "snowbirds" and began spending summers in Vermont and winters in Arizona with their children and families.

Carl was known for his involvement in community and served on various teams and committees during his life here on earth. He was heavily involved in the churches they attended, serving for 35 years as a Sunday school teacher, and around 20 years as a small group leader. He was an avid Mets fan, led the Nassau County Fundamental Church softball league for 35 years, is a member of the Long Island Softball Hall of Fame, and was a member of many bowling leagues in NY, VT, and AZ. In his later years, Carl served on the garden committee in Williston VT and loved playing cards with his friends and family. Carl served with the ACTS ministry for the homeless in Mesa AZ until he stepped back for health reasons, but continued to serve in prayer from home when he could no longer serve in person. During every hour he spent alongside his many friends, Carl was known to bring a special spark into every room he entered and never passed up the opportunity for a good joke to help others laugh.

Carl was predeceased by his parents and his adored older sister Lorraine Kenney. Carl is survived by his wife, Josephine Joan Strandberg (Giorno); son and daughter-in-law Michael and Jennifer Strandberg, daughter and son-in-law Michele and Mike Gammal; cherished grandchildren Buddy and Hannah Gammal, Rachel Gammal, Phoebe Gammal, Victoria and Josh Griffin, Brooke Strandberg; and his beloved great-grandchildren Guy, Jade, and Rudy Gammal.

In lieu of flowers, Joan has asked that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley of Phoenix AZ as a thank-you for the wonderful care they provided Carl during the final weeks of his life. The link can be found here: https://www.hov.org/donate/.
