Carlene Barbara Stinnette, 83, passed away on March 22, 2026 at home in Gales Ferry, CT with her children beside her.
Born on May 20, 1942, Carlene grew up in New Bedford, MA and graduated from New Bedford High School in 1960.
Carlene had a fulfilling career at General Dynamics Electric Boat Division in Groton, CT, where she worked as an administrative administrative assistant. Her roles varied from working on the hill to being directly involved in the shipyard, contributing significantly to the team and projects she was part of.
Outside of her professional life, Carlene was known for her vibrant involvement in various hobbies. She was an avid outdoor enthusiast, especially fond of crabbing and fishing along Long Cove and Mill Cove. Carlene also displayed her competitive spirit in local bowling leagues, achieving second place in a ladies tournament in Las Vegas in 2002. Her love for Bingo, Karaoke, and hosting summer cookouts brought joy and laughter to many gatherings.
Carlene celebrated special occasions with flair, notably her Leap Year parties filled with frog-themed decorations. An animal lover, Carlene provided a loving home to numerous pets over the years, ensuring they were well cared for.
Carlene is survived by her son, Robert Keith of Pooler, GA; daughter, Audrey Ulisa Terranova (Stinnette) of Westerly, RI; grandchildren, Olivia Nicole Terranova (Trai Collins) of Pawcatuck, CT, and Spencer John Terranova of Westerly, RI; great-granddaughters, Francesca Iverson Collins and Charli Lou Collins; her twin brother Carl K. Couto and his wife Diana of Acushnet, MA and their daughters Karen and Dawn.
She also held a special place in her heart for her nieces to brother Donald, Tracey Couto (Oliver), Beth Couto (Mello), and her god-daughter, Dara Couto (Grummond). Carlene was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Mary Rose Couto
(Medeiros), and her brother, Donald Couto. Services for Carlene were held privately at home where her wishes of cremation were respected.
Contributions in Carlene's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, an organization she deeply supported. Carlene's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Her children wish to thank Masonicare Hospice and Lawrence and Memorial Hospital (5.2) for the care they generously gave to their mother during her stay.
