Carly Marie Littleton, 20, of Smyrna, Delaware, passed away on March 13, 2026, in Dover, Delaware. She was born on May 19, 2005, in Dover. Carly brought light and love to all who knew her during her too-brief time with us. She will be remembered for her radiant smile, infectious laughter, and the deep compassion she showed to everyone around her. She was spunky and spirited with a gift for making everyone laugh. She was unafraid to stand up for herself and others, guided by a deep sense of justice. She had a strong sense of independence— always following her own path and making her own decisions. Carly was unapologetically herself—honest, sometimes brutally so, yet always genuine, compassionate, and true to her heart. She left a lasting impact on the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Carly attended Smyrna schools where her early years at Smyrna Elementary and JBM were filled with cherished milestones and joyful memories. She was blessed with caring and inspiring teachers whose kindness and encouragement meant so much to her.
Her happiest childhood days were spent with neighborhood friends—playing basketball, riding bikes, roller-skating, sledding, fishing in the pond, and enjoying games like Fortnite, Minecraft and manhunt.
Carly also shared a special bond with a close circle of girlfriends, friendships that were strengthened through the challenges and milestones of their teenage years. Together, they supported one another, creating lasting memories and unbreakable connections that Carly cherished deeply.
Carly demonstrated a genuine desire to help others, holding a special place in her heart caring for older adults. This led her to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), where she found her calling as a full-time caretaker for Suzanne, with whom she formed a special bond. Inspired by her work, Carly planned to further her education in Social Work.
Carly had an enduring love for animals and cherished her rescued pets: her dog Moo Moo and cats Chong and Pepper. She also adored the family dog Tucker. Her connection with animals reflected the kindness and gentleness that defined her character.
From a young age, Carly displayed remarkable athleticism and determination. As soon as she could handle a basketball, she spent countless hours shooting hoops in the driveway from sunrise to sunset. Her passion for the sport led her to play with the Upward youth league, the Smyrna Middle School team, and with Magic, a travel basketball team. Carly also excelled in softball as part of the Smyrna-Clayton Little Lass Softball League for many years. In high school, she joined ROTC with aspirations of serving in the military.
Carly's happiest moments were those spent with her best friend and fiancé, Geoff. Their bond was unbreakable, a true partnership built on love, laughter, and shared joy. They cherished life's simplest pleasures—sharing meals, enjoying quiet moments together, and walking their dog. It was truly remarkable to see them together, radiating happiness and warmth wherever they went.
Carly's life was filled with love shared among family and friends. Carly is survived by her mother, Dayna Galik Littleton, and her big sister, Macie Littleton, both of Smyrna; her father, Otis B. Littleton of Wilmington; her devoted fiancée and best friend, Geoffrey Spence of Smyrna. She is also survived by her grandmothers, Maureen Galik Smith of Connecticut and Nancy Littleton of Delaware along with many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
As part of a blended family she gained a loving stepmother, Lauri D. Littleton and shared many memorable times with her stepsisters Kaitlyn Andress and Camryn Mahoney; and stepbrothers Logan and Cole Mahoney. There is comfort in knowing that Carly is now reunited with her beloved grandfather, James Littleton of Wilmington, who passed on Christmas Day.
Carly's life, though brief, left an enduring impact on all who knew her. Her kindness, strength, and love will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
