Carmel Romine

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Carmel E. Romine, 77, of South Haven will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 17, 2026, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Clearwater. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at the church. Burial will be at St. Marcus Catholic Cemetery in Clear Lake at a later date. Carmel passed away with family by her side on Friday, March 27, 2026, at home.

Carmel was born December 3, 1948, in St. Cloud to Carl and Audrey (Miller) O’konek. A graduate of Annandale High School in 1966. She worked for Franklin Manufacturing Co. for 17+ years. On Sept. 11, 1982, Carmel married Jerry Romine at St. Lukes Catholic Church, and together they raised three daughters.

In her spare time, Carmel found joy in the simple, meaningful things. She loved being outdoors - gardening, caring for her cows, and spending time on the farm. She enjoyed crafting, and she never missed a chance to be with her grandchildren. More than anything, her family was at the center of her life. She was a steady, loving presence who held everything together. She also had a special fondness for her border collies, Pinterest, and mowing the lawn.

Carmel was survived by her husband Jerome Romine, daughters Stacy Romine of South Haven, Wendy (Chad) Udermann of Holdingford, and Amanda (Shane) Kliber of Holdingford; and ten grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers LeRoy and Norm O’konek.
