Carol Margaret Burnett

1944 - 2026

Carol Margaret Burnett (Hall), 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 10, 2026 in Albuquerque, NM.

Carol was born on December 30, 1944, in Modesto, California, to Todd Hall and Iris Hall (Buoy), and was raised in San Bernardino, California. From an early age, she carried a deep curiosity about the world and a love of learning that would stay with her throughout her life.

Carol began her career as a secretary at Norton Air Force Base and later continued her work at Chevron in Casper, Wyoming, where she lived for nearly 40 years. She returned to school later in life earning her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming in 1995, one of her proud accomplishments.

Carol followed her love of art, culture, and beauty to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she spent a decade enjoying the things that inspired her. She later moved to Albuquerque, where she spent her final years.

Carol had a lifelong love of travel, sparked as early as the 8th grade when she dreamed of becoming an airline stewardess. She was an avid reader and writer, finding joy in books, ideas, and quiet moments of reflection. She was also a devoted Catholic, grounded in her faith from an early age, and carried that faith throughout her life.

Carol was a deeply caring and attentive presence in the lives of those she loved. She had a gift for conversation, and many will remember the long phone discussions where she offered thoughtful advice, encouragement, and steady support. She expressed her love in meaningful, tangible ways: handwritten cards, carefully chosen gifts, and small gestures that made others feel loved and remembered.

She is survived by her son, Damon Burnett; her granddaughter, Brittany Schmeeckle; her great-grandchildren, Lilly and Henry, and her brother, Larry Hall.

She was preceded in death by her son, David Todd Burnett, who passed away in July 2022.

A Catholic rosary will be held on May 6 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at Cristo Rey Church, 1107 Cristo Rey St, Santa Fe, NM 87501. All who knew Carol are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Carol’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association to support research and care for those affected by dementia.
