Carol L. Garcy, age 87, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026. She was born on October 7, 1938, and was the beloved daughter of the late Eleanor and Howard Schaffnit.
Carol was the devoted wife of Don Garcy, Sr., and a loving mother to Don Garcy, Jr. and Ellyn Minnich. She was a cherished grandmother affectionately known as "Muca" to Tyler (23) and Trevor (20) Minnich, and Jack (20) and Brett (18) Garcy. She was also a wonderful mother-in-law to Chantel Garcy and Brian Minnich.
A native of Glenshaw, Pennsylvania, Carol moved to Florida in 1984. She graduated from Edinboro College and dedicated most of her life to teaching, a profession that reflected her kindness, patience, and generous spirit. Those who knew her often remarked that she was one of the kindest people they had ever met.
In Florida, Carol enjoyed many happy years at her home in Sabal Point, Longwood, her condominium in Daytona Beach Shores, The Villages and later in Tampa. Her greatest joy was her family especially her four grandsons and her beloved dog, Cloie.
Carol will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carol's memory to the American Diabetes Association or, in honor of her love for animals, to the Humane Society.
