Carol Sue Lindner (Wilson), age 78, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away peacefully in her home from myelodysplastic syndrome on January 20, 2026.
Born on December 9, 1947, in Paulsboro, New Jersey, Carol was the beloved daughter of Hugh and Agnes Wilson (Gesty). The family then moved to Woodbury Heights, New Jersey where Carol attended Woodbury Heights Elementary and Woodbury Hight School before studying Elementary Education at Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia. It was here where she met her husband of 57 years, William Richard Lindner II. William was two years older, so when he graduated, they got married and William went into the Air Force. Together they lived in Lompoc, California and Grand Forks, North Dakota. It was here in North Dakota where Carol finished her college degree at the University of North Dakota.
Once William finished his time in the Air Force, they settled in William's hometown of Erie, Pennsylvania where Carol obtained a certification in Special Education at Mercyhurst College, now known as Mercyhurst University. She then worked for the Erie School District in the Special Education Department. Carol was also involved in the Erie School District's
Special Olympics sports programs of skiing, swimming and track and field.
In 1999, Carol and William moved to Scottsdale, Arizona to be in warmer weather, where she could enjoy golfing all year around.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents Hugh and Agnes Wilson. She is survived by her husband, William Lindner, sister, Bonnie Wilson, daughter, Stacy Macias (Lindner), son-in-law, Peter Macias, and grandchildren, Sarah and William Macias.
Carol was full of life. Her favorite place was on the beach reading a book where the sound of waves and the warmth of the sun brought her peace and joy. She loved golfing, playing cards, reading books, and spending time with friends and family.
Carol’s legacy is one of warmth, vitality, and deep connection. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
