Carol Ann McConnell, 93, passed from this world December 31, 2025 in Orange County, California, surrounded by her loving family. She was an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She taught us resilience, grace, and the art of always putting others first. Carol was kind, resourceful, artistic and never sought to be the center of attention.
She was born in New York City to Paul Brinser and Catherine McNamara Brinser. Growing up in the city, she spent many happy summers at the beaches and waterways of Point Lookout, the home of her maternal grandmother. It was there that she began to skillfully sketch and paint landscapes and seaside subjects.
Carol married James Joseph McConnell in 1956, and they became parents to four children. In addition to being a mother she worked full-time as a legal secretary for the office of the Suffolk County New York District Attorney. She was involved in several high profile cases in the 1960's and 1970's.
After retirement, she was able to enjoy traveling and exploring the country by RV, eventually settling in California with her husband Jim, where they enjoyed the San Diego lifestyle and many beautiful sunsets. She enjoyed visits with her family and the many grandchildren and great grandchildren that brightened her life. Carol was gentle, kind and thoughtful. She had a great interest in many subjects including current events. She was an avid reader and loved acquiring knowledge until her vision failed in her last year.
Carol was predeceased by her husband, James J. McConnell, son, Kevin J. McConnell and brother Paul "Buddy" Brinser Jr. Carol is survived by her sons Brian (Marilyn), Brendan (Debbie), daughter Erin (Mark) and daughter-in-law Laurie as well as her seven grand children Ryan, Tara, Adam, Darren, Evan, Luke, and Julia . She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Levi and Lydia.
" When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure."
