Carol H. Muldoon

Carol H. Muldoon, 70, passed away peacefully at her home in Goshen, KY, on April 13, 2026, after her battle with ALS. She was born on February 11, 1956, in Princeton, KY, and raised in Louisville, KY.

She is survived by her spouse of 40 years, Michael; her son, Kevin; daughter-in-law, Brittany (Mowery); two grandchildren, Alexander and Katherine; and her brother, Tim (Hogan). She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry Hogan and Thelma (Mitchell).

Recognized for her financial acumen and leadership from a young age, Carol earned the respect of teachers, legislators, fellow parents, and corporate leaders alike. At 29, she married Michael, originally from Boston, at St. Mel’s Catholic Church in Woodland Hills, CA. Their son Kevin was later born in Richmond, VA.

Carol was one of two students from Valley High School’s class of 350 selected to attend a school for gifted students. She majored in accounting and finance at the University of Kentucky. At age 24, she was selected to help consolidate corporate financials for Executive Leadership at Humana. She went on to become the youngest, and, at the time, one of only two female Directors of Finance within the Humana system.

Throughout her career, which spanned Kentucky, Arizona, California, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Florida, Carol held numerous leadership roles, including Associate Director of the 225,000-member Humana Health Plan; Executive Director of the 500,000-member Anthem Kentucky Plan; COO of a joint venture between Anthem and Acordia HMO; Senior Vice President of AmeriHealth Mercy in Philadelphia; COO of Passport Health Plan in Louisville, KY; Regional Vice President of MCNA in Miami; Vice President of CoventryCares; and Deputy Commissioner of Medicaid for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, appointed by two governors.

Carol loved God deeply. She expressed that love through sincerity, service, and unwavering devotion to others. She loved her family and friends wholeheartedly and simply wanted to be a good mother, spouse, and friend—nothing more complicated than that. And that was more than enough.

A service celebrating Carol’s life will be held on Saturday, April 18, with Pastors Patrick Garcia and Jacky Newton officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00–11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM and a reception at 12:00 PM. All events will take place at Sojourn Church North, 12001 W Highway 42, Goshen, KY 40026.
