Carole Jean Shaw Moy passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, in San Ramon, California. She was a few days shy of her 92nd birthday.
Carole was born on March 7, 1934, in Puyallup, Washington, to Harold and Helen Shaw. She was the eldest daughter in a family of four children. She is survived by her sisters, Sara Martin and Lynda McGinity and predeceased by her brother Allan Shaw.
In 1948, Carole moved with her family to Hayward, California, where she would soon meet her high school sweetheart, Ken Moy, in 1951. This year they would have celebrated 75 years of marriage. Together they built a life centered on family, community, and shared experiences. They lived in the Tri Valley area since 1961.
Carole is lovingly remembered by her five children: Mark Moy (Claudie), Marti Andrews (Dave), Melinda Moy (Jon Threshie), Michele van Zuiden (Gordon), and Molly Moy Showers (David). She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and a delighted great-grandmother to twelve great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.
For more than 30 years, Carole worked in libraries throughout the Bay Area, including the San Ramon High School, Diablo Valley College, and the Alameda County Law Library. She believed deeply in the value of libraries as places of learning, discovery, and community.
Carole enjoyed traveling, gardening, fashion, and playing bridge with friends. She especially loved celebrating holidays surrounded by family and treasured her years living at Monte Vista Ranch.
She will be remembered for her warmth, curiosity, and the care she devoted to family and friends throughout her life.
Donations in Carole’s memory may be made to your favorite public library or to the San Ramon Library Foundation.
