Carolyn Marie Bissey (née Pentz), a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away on March 12, 2026, in West Palm Beach, Florida, following a brief illness. She was 83 years old. Carolyn was a longtime resident of Point Pleasant, New Jersey, and a part-time resident of Jupiter, Florida, where she built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Born on April 8, 1942, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Carolyn was the eldest of four children. Her early years were spent in Roselle, New Jersey, before her family relocated to Point Pleasant Beach. It was there that Carolyn met and married the love of her life, Larry Bissey. Together they shared an extraordinary 65 years of marriage filled with devotion to their family and adventures traveling the world.
Carolyn’s beauty radiated both inside and out. She adored spending time with her family and found joy in life’s simple pleasures. After graduating from high school, she pursued a secretarial program at Asbury Park Business School. In 1971, once her children were all in school, Carolyn began working at Point Pleasant Beach High School alongside her dear friend Lucille Ward as part of the Child Study Team. She dedicated 15 years to this role, which allowed her to balance her professional contributions with summers spent creating lasting memories with her family—something she held close to her heart.
A woman of many talents and passions, Carolyn was an active member of the ladies’ auxiliary for Ocean Fire Company #1 in Point Pleasant Beach. She was also an avid tennis player who competed regularly in both New Jersey and Florida. Her dedication to the sport earned her the prestigious Golden Sneaker Award while playing for her local community in Florida. Beyond tennis, Carolyn enjoyed playing the piano, solving crossword puzzles, cheering on the New York Giants, watching her favorite soap operas ("The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful"), reading novels, taking long walks, and dancing whenever a favorite song played.
Carolyn’s vibrant spirit touched everyone who knew her. Her warmth and kindness were evident in all aspects of her life. She is survived by her devoted husband, Larry Bissey; her loving children Linda Small (Laura), Robin Rudd (Randy), and Brian Bissey (Adriana); her siblings Thomas Pentz (Sharon), June Norden, and Wendy Giarratana (Bill); and her grandchildren Christopher Small, Taylor Lindquist (Tommy), Lauren Rudd, Chase Byers, and Sydney Byers. Carolyn was also a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Manasquan River Golf Club, 84 Riverview Dr., Brielle, NJ., from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm., where she and Larry have been House Members for the last 15 years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carolyn’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at stjude.org.
Carolyn’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May her legacy of love and joy bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.
