March 26, 1951 – February 19, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carolyn Jean Burton, who went home peacefully on February 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on March 26, 1951, Carolyn lived a life defined by devotion, strength, laughter, and unconditional love. She was the best and most loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and daughter — the kind of woman who made everyone feel safe, welcomed, and deeply cared for.

Carolyn was the hardest worker you could ever meet. She was incredibly handy and could fix, build, or figure out just about anything. She loved woodworking and took pride in creating beautiful things with her hands — gifts that will now be treasured even more. She had a laugh that could light up a room and was truly one of the best people in the world to laugh with.

She loved the ocean, the sound of the waves, and the peace it brought her. But more than anything, she loved being with her family. Whether gathered around a table, celebrating milestones, or simply spending quiet time together, those were her happiest moments.

She was a cherished daughter of the late Albert and Jean Cromer and a beloved sister and aunt, sharing a lifetime of memories, laughter, and unwavering family bonds

Carolyn is lovingly survived by her children:
Tami Conway (Brett Conway); Dani Wetzel (Jason Sylvester);
Mikey Wetzel (Melissa Wetzel);
David Wetzel (Kirin Wetzel);
Brandi Burton Setterdahl (Tommy Setterdahl);
Sami Jo Burton (Zack Svacina) and Ed Burton (Courtney Burton)

She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Quinn, Blake, Cole, Charlie, Liam, Ethan, Mason, Emmy, Rylie, Bode, Oakley, Waylon, Wade, Scarlett, Keira, and Landon — each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held on February 26th from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Pinstripes - Northbrook. A short service will take place at 6:00pm. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honor the incredible woman she was.

Her love lives on through her family and all who were blessed to know her. The strength she modeled, the laughter she shared, and the unconditional love she gave will carry forward for generations.

She will be missed beyond words and loved beyond measure.
