Carolyn "Carrie" Marie Moen

It is with great sadness that the family of Carolyn "Carrie" Moen age 83 of Tucson, Arizona announces her passing on March 18th, 2026. Born December 31, 1942 in Utica, New York to Lewis A Davies and LuVerne M Davies. Graduating in 1960 from Holland Patent Central High School as a recipient of the Regency Scholarship. Going on to Utica School of Commerce and receiving her LPN nursing certificate. She went on to work as a librarian on Fort Drum Military base while living in Upstate New York. In 1988 she and her husband, Skip, moved to Tucson, Arizona where she worked at the University of Arizona at their library and then went on to work at Coronado K-8 School as their senior librarian where she shared her love of books with elementary children until her retirement.

Carrie was compassionate, empathetic, and giving to family, friends, and strangers alike. She was a lover of all books, a collector of The Peanuts, pop up books, Crayola crayons, Uncle Wiggly, and Beatrix Potter. She was an avid Young and The Restless watcher; recording them on the VCR to save them. She loved living in the desert with her rabbits and quail. She was a loving wife, mother to her three children, grandmother to her ten grandchildren, and great grandmother to seven great grandchildren. After her retirement she volunteered at elementary schools as a guest reader, the Salvation Army as a bell ringer, and worked selflessly with the Gold Star Mothers following the death of her youngest son, CW3 Robert Charles Hammett Jr. who died heroically in 2008 while serving in Iraq. Some of her hobbies included her family and friends, books, movies and tv shows, shopping, taking photos, going out to lunch, dancing, volunteering, gift giving, and journaling.

She is survived by her husband Orlin 'Skip' Moen, daughter Kit Wolfe, son Jonathan Hammett, grandchildren Jade Murray, Seth Clark, Madeline Culhane, Rebecca Hammett, Elizabeth Hammett, Gillian Hammett, Gwendolyn Hammett, Nolan Hammett, Ben Hammett, Charlie Hammett, and great grandchildren Eleanore Murray, Emerson Murray, Dashiell Fisher, Evelyn Hollweg, Oliver Culhane, Myles Johnson, Levi Hammett, and Nathan Hammett.
Proceeded in death by her father Lewis Davies, mother LuVerne Davies, brother Clifford Davies, sister Elaine 'Alexis' Davies, and son CW3 Robert C. Hammett Junior.

Her memorial service will be held by her family at Evergreen Mortuary located at 3015 North Oracle Rd., Tucson, AZ 85705 on Friday April 3rd, 2026 at 1:30pm. We ask that, as per her request, donations to Marana Food Bank be made in lieu of flowers.
