Carolyn Moore, nicknamed "Peanut" or "Pea" due to her small stature, age 75, of Takoma Park, Maryland, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025. She was born on August 12, 1950, in Greenwood, South Carolina.
Carolyn was raised in Takoma Park, Maryland, where she grew up as the only daughter amongst three brothers, which gave her a sense of uniqueness and independence that remained with her throughout her entire life. She attended Montgomery Blair High School and carried her creative spirit throughout her life (honorable mention to Hildy Mesnik DeFalco, her childhood best friend).
An exceptionally talented artist and interior designer, Carolyn had a gift for creating beautiful, welcoming spaces. Her eye for design was matched by her love of muscle cars—especially her beloved Ford Mustangs (yes, PLURAL!) - The Mach I, which perfectly reflected her bold, spirited personality.
Carolyn dedicated over 25 years of service to C&P Telephone, later known as Verizon, retiring in 2008. Before, and even after retirement, her strong work ethic and love of staying active led her to hold part-time positions at Woodies, Hecht's, Lord & Taylor, Kohl's, and Macy's.
She adored her granddaughter "Reesh" and spent countless weekends with her exploring Maryland, taking her to the zoo, Union Station train rides, the Butterfly museum, and countless other activities to broaden her perception of the world, and her community. They both shared an extreme passion for art, and drawing: something that Reesh still incorporates into her life to this day.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carrie Belle Moore and Henry Cleveland Moore, her brother Henry Cleveland Moore, Jr., and Jeffrey Bennett Turner, father of Trevor and Shauwney.
Carolyn is survived by her son Trevor ("Trev") Moore, her daughter ("Shauwney") Anderson, her cherished granddaughter Reiscia ("Reesh") Moore, her brothers Douglas Moore (Estelle), and Dennis Moore (Linda), her nephew Curtis Moore, her son-in-law Shaun Anderson and a host of loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. We can't forget about her best buddy "Biscuit" - Shauwney's mini-schnauzer she nicknamed, "sweet little thing".
Carolyn will be remembered for her creativity, independence, love of family, and the beauty she brought into the lives and spaces of those around her. Carolyn and her two children were extremely close since the very beginning, and remained that way for her entire life. Her spirit, strength, and unmistakable style will be deeply missed.
