Carolyn Roof

Carolyn Annette Roof, (Carol) of Cayce South Carolina passed away on December 11, 2025, at the age of 67. Her passing followed complications from a brain injury sustained on November 26.

Born on September 23, 1958, in Charleston, South Carolina, Carol was raised in West Columbia and graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School. She went on to earn her degree from the University of South Carolina. A dedicated professional, she retired in October 2014 from Ellis, Lawhorne & Sims, P.A.

Carol was predeceased by her parents, Jewell Holmes Roof and Hubert L. Roof of West Columbia; her aunt Emma Louise Roof and Harold S. Roof of Lexington; and Katherine Cullum, Pauline Shealy, and Orin E. Holmes.

She is survived by numerous cousins: Alton, Bryan, Doug, and Keith Costley; Betty Fenlayson, Nancy Hartley, Brenda Poole, Eddie Roof, and Betty J. Roof.

In retirement, Carol found joy in giving back to her community. She volunteered at several local nursing homes—most recently The Pines of West Columbia—where she offered companionship and comfort to residents through simple acts of kindness: holding hands, sharing hugs, listening with compassion, or simply being present for those who had no one else.

Carol also cherished time spent with her beloved pets Moses and Stormy. She enjoyed hosting friends for fellowship during the summer months and found great delight in participating in pool tournaments. Her generous spirit and unwavering dedication to helping others—especially the elderly—defined much of her life's purpose.

Her family and friends extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Lexington Hospital's fourth floor for their exceptional care and professionalism during Carol's final days.

A memorial service will be at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, located at 1273 Calks Ferry Rd., Lexington, SC 29072 on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 1 p.m. A private burial will follow.
