In Loving Memory
Carroll Cecil Cannon, 81, of McKinney, Texas passed on December 10, 2025. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas on March 02, 1944 to Carroll Charles Cannon and Curtye Jane (Perry) Cannon. His early life was defined by sports and he played infield for the University of Texas and Texas Wesleyan University. He graduated from Texas Christian University and spent forty-five years coaching sports from golf to football, but his first love was always basketball. Coach “Boomer” Cannon switched to coaching high school girls’ basketball after retiring from the Keller Independent School District because he appreciated the focus on fundamental skills. When he was not coaching, he was playing beer league baseball or scribbling football plays on napkins at his favorite Italian restaurant. His children remember him catching a line drive foul with his bare hand at a Texas Rangers game and being told by a local sports talk show host that he had a “voice for radio”. In his later life, he developed a love for the movies, taught himself to write screenplays and made a movie called “The Reluctant Hitman”.
Cecil is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Fae Cannon, his parents, CC and Curtye Cannon; survived by his son, Tom Cannon; daughter-in-law Lisa Cannon; daughter, Caroleanne Clark, son-in-law Darnell Clark; daughter Tiffany Cannon, son-in-law Aaron Baker; daughter, Tillie Konko; his grandchildren Taylor Cannon, Sydney Cannon, Megan Harrity, Brian Harrity, and Tai Baker; great grandsons West and Brooks Cannon and great granddaughter Stevie Brown.
