Cassie Wickman York, 41, passed away on February 6, 2026, in Jacksonville, Florida, following complications from a brain bleed sustained over two years ago. Born on July 10, 1984, in Temple, Texas, Cassie brought joy and warmth to all who knew her throughout her life.

Cassie grew up in Waco, Texas, where she attended Midway schools and graduated from Midway High School. She continued her education at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, an institution that remained close to her heart throughout her life. A devoted fan of Texas Tech sports, Cassie found great joy in cheering on her Red Raiders during every seasonal sport.

Cassie's greatest joy was being a mother to her beloved daughter, McKenna Laine Gorman, of Pensacola, Florida. She embraced motherhood with boundless love and dedication, creating a home filled with laughter, support, and unconditional love. Beach girls by choice, mother and daughter spent countless hours enjoying the Panhandle's sunshine, emerald waters, white sand, and blue skies. Her life's focus was to be the best possible mother for McKenna. She excelled at this task and became her daughter's rock and strength. They were the perfect mother-daughter combo.

Her vibrant personality and zest for life were evident in everything she did. Cassie had a deep love for cooking and delighted in sharing recipes with friends and family. Her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aroma of home-cooked meals and the sound of country music playing in the background. She also enjoyed reading and found peace and inspiration through daily devotionals and prayer. A woman of unwavering faith, Cassie held a strong belief in God, Jesus Christ, and the power of His plan for her life.

She is also lovingly remembered by her parents, Pat and Larry Wickman of Pensacola, Florida, her brother, Zachary Lane Wickman of Waco, Texas, whose frequent positive conversations continuously motivated her, her
aunt, Sharon Wiese, cousins Glenn Raborn and Lisa Eggebrecht and their families, as well as her close friend, Brandon Buchanan of Birmingham, Alabama. Cassie was preceded in death by her brother Joshua Lane Wickman, and grandparents, Agnes and JD Biggs, and Olanda and Jodie Wickman.

Cassie's presence lit up every room she entered. Always happy and outgoing, she radiated kindness and compassion. To those who knew her best, she was not only an incredible mother but also a true friend—someone who embodied love in its purest form.

May Cassie's memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire love and kindness in the world around us. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 18, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Jorge's Cantina, 4225 Franklin Ave, Waco, Texas.
