Beloved wife and mother, Catherine “Cathy” Rylander Brock (December 8, 1951—February 25, 2026), 74, passed away at her home in Canton, Georgia after an extended illness. A graduate of Roane County High School and the University of Tennessee Knoxville (Bachelor of Science in Nursing; RN-BSN), Cathy devoted many years of her life to caring for patients in both the hospital and home health setting in East Tennessee. In 1998 she moved with her family to the Pacific Northwest, where she enjoyed many adventures. In 2003, the family moved to Guyton, Georgia, before moving to Canton, Georgia in 2019. Cathy believed strongly in her faith and served on altar guild at various Episcopal churches (including Good Shepherd in Knoxville, Tennessee and St Paul's in Bellingham, Washington). She was a founding member of St. Luke’s Episcopal in Rincon, Georgia. She was involved in philanthropy and helped many people and agencies in need.
She is survived by her devoted husband, John, to whom she was married 51 years; her three children Brock (Ileigh), Christopher (Tonya), and Sarah (Erol); her six grandchildren Rylie, Lillian, Joanna, Aydin, Aleyna, and Kaan; as well as many extended family and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Lillian “Judy” Rylander, James Davenport Rylander Sr., and her sister Deborah Lynn Bruce.
