Catherine "Cat" (Dauenheimer) Somerville, age 73 of Summerfield, FL, passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside on November 28, 2025. Catherine was born on January 17, 1952 in Yonkers, NY to Albert R. & Patricia A.(McLaughlin) Dauenheimer. She is predeceased by her husband, Stephen E. Somerville, who she married in January 1999 in Orlando, FL. She passed after a long courageous fight with metastatic breast cancer.

She is survived by her children Megan (Duffy-Cohea) Baumer (Brian) Apopka, FL , Ryan D. Duffy (Megan Horvat) Olmsted, OH, Shon Somerville(Michelle) Jacksonville, NC and Shanna Plumbtree, Sanford, NC and 14 grandchildren, as well as her siblings, Carl A. Dauenheimer New Paltz, NY, Susan M. Potter SpringHill, FL, Diane M. Dolan (Allan) Kingston, NY, Laura Harnden (Richard) Kingston, NY, Ruth Post (Rob Friss) Glasco, NY, Debra Dermody Glasco, NY, John Scott Dauenheimer (Dawn) Kingston, NY, Glenn Dauenheimer (Jean) Milton, NY, Matthew A. Dauenheimer Kingston, NY. Her Sister In Laws Linda Wells and Vickie Bright of Mt Dora FL. Her aunt Rochelle Dauenheimer (Walter) of Guilford, CT and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

After graduating with honors from Kingston High School Class of 1970 where she studied art, she chose to become a nurse. She attended Albany Memorial School of Nursing. As a licensed practical nurse she worked in the Intensive and Coronary Care Unit at Benedictine Hospital,17 years.Catherine completed her Bachelors of Science in Nursing through Regents External. She joined Apria Healthcare in the early 1990's providing home IV therapy during the AIDS epidemic. It was there that she became a nationally certified IV Clinician. Years later she landed a dream job with Baxter Pharmaceuticals as a Sales Executive. Throughout all of the changes in her career, Cat was an educator and advocate. She loved empowering people with knowledge, whether that was in the classroom teaching a variety of critical nursing skills or guiding knitters through various stitches and projects. Her enthusiasm for both was infectious. She was a co-founder and facilitator of the Tri-County Breast Cancer Support Group in The Villages, FL. and an advocate for breast cancer research and patient support. A lover of all animals, she and Stephen especially loved horses, cats and dogs. They made it a mission to rescue many cats and dogs during their marriage.
