Catherine Ann Goyette, a longtime resident of Sherman, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by love and family.
Catherine was a passionate world traveler who embraced adventure without hesitation. She lived in remarkable places, including Thailand, Hong Kong, and Brunei—experiences that shaped her vibrant and fearless spirit. She shared her love of travel with her family, visiting 27 countries with her daughter and many more with friends and loved ones, creating memories that will be treasured forever. One of her most cherished final adventures was to Alaska, where she delighted in exploring the fjords alongside her grandson, Noah.
Catherine's bond with her grandson was extraordinary. She was a constant presence in his life, offering unwavering support, pride, and love every step of the way.
A devoted animal lover, Catherine volunteered for over 15 years at the Animal Welfare Society in New Milford, Connecticut, where she adopted three of her greatest loves. She went on to train one to Rally Master level (Lola), another as a complex-level therapy dog who visited local schools and skilled nursing facilities (Hurley), and a third to Rally Novice (Primrose). Her pups were always dressed to impress and brought joy wherever they went.
Catherine was also an ardent supporter of the arts. She volunteered as a costume designer for many years at Sherman School. She also created countless costumes for her grandson's theater productions, each one creative and unique. In addition, she served as an usher at TheatreWorks in New Milford, sharing her love of the performing arts with her community.
Catherine lived life fully and loved without limits. She will be remembered as a devoted sister, loving wife, extraordinary mother, loyal friend, and deeply cherished grandmother. Her legacy of love, adventure, creativity, and generosity will live on in all who knew her.
Catherine is survived by her beloved grandson, Noah; her daughter, Christine (Joseph); her sisters, Loretta Heagerty and Helenlee Heagerty; her niece, Jennifer Moss; her nephew, Sean Goodnow; along with many cherished family members, dear friends, and her devoted pups, Hurley and Primrose.
