Cecelia Roberta (Covington) Tapp was born to the late Rufus Covington and Bessie Mae Parker on December 12, 1962 in Gary, Indiana. She transitioned from labor to reward on Thursday, February 12, 2026, surrounded by her loving husband, family and friends.
Cecelia was preceded in death by her Parents, Rufus Covington and Bessie Mae Parker, In-laws, Lizzie Mae Tapp and James M. Tapp, Sr., Grandparents, Five Aunts, and One Sister. She confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.
Cecelia was a faithful and dedicated member of Christ Temple Community Church where she led Praise and Worship, taught Sunday School, served as Secretary-Student of CTCC Demo Karate Team, and President of Pastor's Anniversary.
Some of her accolades include being named Honorary Indiana State Representative, 45 years of dedicated service to the Music Ministry of CTCC, opened for Yolanda Adams and Smokie Norful at WSHS, Cee Cee and Company (her group) sang the National Anthem for the Railcats game for several years. During her earlier years she sang with the Voices of Psalm (Mary Ross) Taylor Evans (Majorie Taylor), and Saints with a Vision (Pharis Evans Jr).
She leaves to cherish her memories, Loving and devoted husband, Shihan Elmo Tapp, Godmother, Dorothy Moorehead, Gary Indiana, Brothers in love, Gregory L. Tapp, James M. Tapp, of Gary Indiana, Sisters, Bernyce L. Thompson, Treacie M. Gill (Jessie) Knox, of Gary, Indiana, Deborah (Kenneth) Moore, Carma (Rudy) Jones, of Gary, Indiana, Pamela Covington, of Indianapolis, Nona Harris, Cynthia Gilkey, and Linda (Charles) Hobbs of Detroit, Michigan, Lana Covington of Gary, Indiana, Lisa Covington of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, along with a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Wake Thursday March 5,2026 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Funeral 11:00 a.m. all services at Christ Temple Community Church 2472 Pierce St. Gary,In. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery . Services Entrusted To Powell-Coleman Funeral Home.
