Cecelia Thurman

Cecelia Anne Thurman, a devoted nurse, loving parent, and cherished family member, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, at the age of 70. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched with kindness and compassion.

Cecelia was born on August 25, 1955, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She graduated from Bemidji High School in the fall of 1973 and went on to earn a nursing degree from the Pikes Peak College Nursing Program. With a lifelong commitment to caring for others, Cecelia proudly served in a nursing role at the Department of Veterans Affairs until her retirement.

Cecelia was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby Dougherty and William Wills, and her brother, Billy Wills.

She is survived by her siblings: Colleen Soares, Robert Wills, Heidi McBride, Jamie Martin, Donald Martin, and Joel Martin.

Cecelia is also survived by her children: Rob (Jodi) Hanson and Miah (Tammy) Hanson.

She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Alicia Immonen, Orion Immonen, Patience Ricard, Robert Woodruff, Jeremiah Immonen, Travis Treichel and Wyatt Treichel.

A celebration of Cecelia's life will be held in Bemidji in the summer of 2026.
