Chad W. Combs

Chad W. Combs passed away on October 23, 2025, at the age of 52, in Wilmington, NC. Born on May 27, 1973, Chad was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather whose warmth and dedication to his family were at the core of his being.
Chad was cherished by his mother, Cheryl V. Combs, and was a devoted husband to Susan. He was a proud father to his son, Austin, and daughter, Savannah. He adored his granddaughter, Kynlie, who brought immense joy to his later years. Chad's father, James R. Combs, preceded him in death.
He graduated from Northwest Guilford High School and further honed his culinary skills at Johnson and Wales University, which paved the way for his career as a chef. Chad was passionate about his profession and dedicated much of his life to the culinary arts, where he was respected and admired by his colleagues.
Beyond his professional life, Chad had a variety of interests that enriched his life. He was an avid cook, not just professionally but also at home, often experimenting with new recipes for family and friends. His love for fishing provided him many peaceful moments at sea, and he took pride in his collection of Star Wars memorabilia. Chad enjoyed sitting outside in the sun and watching over our neighbors and their families, making sure they were all safe and cherished movies and music, particularly the songs of Jimmy Buffett.
A service to honor Chad's life will be held at Bethel Methodist Church in Oak Ridge, NC, on November 2nd, 2025, at 2pm. His life was marked by his loving nature, his passion for his interests, and his unwavering commitment to his family. Chad will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
