Chadwick J. Duncan, 54, passed away the morning of January 7, 2026. Chad was born on July 22, 1971, in Tappahannock, Virginia. He was adopted by June B. Duncan and Ralph J. Duncan on December 22, 1971, celebrated as his "Gotcha Day".
Chad graduated from Northside High School in 1991. He went on to serve his community as the building manager at various Roanoke City Public Schools and most recently at Westside Elementary School, where he was known for his reliability, kindness, and gentle nature.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother, June, in 2013, and his father, Ralph, in 2014.
He leaves behind a loving and loyal companion, his cherished pup, Chloe, who was a dedicated stealer of the bed and constant comfort in his life.
Chad was the most accepting and kind-hearted person. He was remembered for his soft answers, quick humor, and genuine care for others. His presence brought calm and warmth, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him. Chad will be sorely missed by his family, friends and all those attending and working at Roanoke City Public Schools.
A celebration of life will be planned in the next couple months.
