Mrs. Irma Charlene Berryhill, age 91, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, in Birmingham, Alabama.

Born on October 1, 1934, in Edwards, Mississippi, Charlene was the daughter of Sterling Fowler and Hazel Drummond Fowler. She grew up with a strong sense of family and service that would guide her throughout her life.

Following high school graduation, Charlene began working as a clerk in hospital administration in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She later accepted a position with Mutual of New York Insurance in Jackson, Mississippi. As her family relocated, Charlene transitioned into real estate, practicing as an agent in New Jersey, Mississippi, and Alabama. In 1985, she became office manager for Rabbit Branch Marina, a business she co-owned with her husband, Milton, on Logan Martin Lake.

Charlene’s life was marked by devotion—to her family, her faith, and her community. She was a faithful member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church for many years and found deep fellowship within the Torch Bearers Sunday School class. Her spiritual life was a cornerstone of her identity and a source of strength throughout the decades.

At home, Charlene was known for her warmth and hospitality. She had a gift for creating beautiful spaces—setting elegant tables for meals she lovingly prepared and crafting exquisite flower arrangements that brought joy to those around her. An enthusiastic bridge player, she enjoyed weekly games with close friends that brought laughter and camaraderie into her life.

Over the years, Charlene became an avid boater and first mate on the boats she and Milton owned throughout their married life. Many happy adventures were made by boat to Key West, Lake Pontchartrain, and several trips to the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, and other locations in the Caribbean and the Bahamas.

Charlene’s greatest joy came from caring for others. She had an intuitive sense of how to support those around her—offering comfort when needed and celebrating their joys as if they were her own.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Milton H. Berryhill; two sons: Brad L. Berryhill (Dani O'Connor) and Robert D. Berryhill (Sally Speer); four grandchildren: Taylor Lewis, Robert Berryhill, Ellen Berryhill, and Paige Berryhill; one great-grandchild: Bright Williams; one sister: Nancy Fowler Curtis; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by one grandchild, Julia Lewis.

A celebration of Charlene’s life will be held at Mountain Brook Baptist Church in Birmingham. Details will be available soon.

Charlene leaves behind a legacy of love, grace, and steadfast strength that will continue to inspire all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who mourn her passing.
