Charles Cords Carlson

1962 - 2025

Charles Cords Carlson, a cherished son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, in Saint Joseph, Michigan, at the age of 63. Born on August 28, 1962, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Charlie was the son of James Lamont Carlson and Mildred Jean Carlson, nee Cords. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Lamont Carlson II.

Charlie had a love for adventure and a deep appreciation for nature. He was a graduate of Moline High School and furthered his education at the University of Iowa.

For 31 years, Charlie was a dedicated employee at Procter & Gamble in Iowa City, where he built lasting friendships and made invaluable contributions to the company. In June 2022, he retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, and commitment that his colleagues will always remember.

Known affectionately as "Charlie" by those who loved him, he was a man of many passions. He was fascinated with trains and transit systems. He spent much of his free time at his family's cabin in Wisconsin, enjoying the wildlife and barge traffic along the Mississippi river and of course, watching the trains go by. He loved roller coasters and would plan road trips to amusement parks to ride specific rollercoasters.

Whether he was navigating scenic routes, chasing roller coaster experiences, or marveling at the intricate design of railway systems, Charlie found joy in the simple pleasures of life.

Charlie is survived by his loving sisters, Jean Carlson Haddock and Mary Louise Carlson, who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.

As we remember Charlie, we celebrate a life filled with adventure, humor, and an unwavering spirit. His laughter, warmth, and passion for life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Charlie's life on a date and time to be announced in Iowa City. All who knew him are invited to attend and share in the stories and memories that made Charlie such a special person in our lives.

Rest in peace, Charlie. You will always be remembered, cherished, and loved.
