Charles “Chip” Richard MacKannan, 76, of Pitman, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026. Born on September 20, 1949, Chip was a lifelong Pitman, NJ resident whose steady presence, strong work ethic, and love for the outdoors left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his parents, Roland and Beatrice MacKannan; his beloved partner, Gene Foulke; and his brother, Donald “Fuzzy” MacKannan. He is survived by his daughter, Kristen; his loving stepdaughters, Heather and Karyn; his brother, Jack (Patricia) MacKannan; his cherished granddaughter, Alli; step-granddaughters, Destiny and Jayda; step-grandson, James; as well as a great-granddaughter and great-grandson. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
A proud graduate of Clearview Regional High School, Class of 1969, Chip went on to earn his associate degree from Gloucester County College. He honorably served his country in the United States National Guard, carrying that same sense of duty and commitment throughout his life.
Chip built a strong career working for several companies across South Jersey, including Struthers-Dunn, Harleco, Delaware Valley Wholesale Florist, and ultimately retiring from the Franklin Township Public Works. No matter where he worked, he was known for his reliability, humor, and the friendships he formed along the way.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Chip felt most at home outdoors — whether casting a line at sunrise or heading into the woods at dawn. He also loved playing softball, enjoying both the competition and the camaraderie of his teammates. He valued simple pleasures, time with family, and sharing stories that could make anyone laugh.
Chip will be remembered for his loyalty, quiet strength, and deep love for his family. His legacy lives on in the generations he helped shape and the many memories that will continue to bring comfort to those who loved him.
